Family photo during the ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Accession of Spain to the European Communities, at the Royal Palace, June 12, 2025, in Madrid (Spain). The ceremony commemorates the historic agreement signed on June 12, 1985, which allowed Spain's entry into the European Economic Community on January 1, 1986, after years of negotiations that began in 1979. The Treaty, initialed in the Salón de Columnas by former President Felipe González in the presence of King Emeritus Juan Carlos, marked the beginning of Spain's integration into the European common market.
