Nissan launches all-new X-Trail SUV in Japan

TOKYO, Japan - Toshiyuki Shiga, chief operating officer of Nissan Motor Co., stands by the company's new X-Trail sport utility vehicle during a presentation in Tokyo on Aug. 22. JAKARTA, Indonesia - Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled on Sept. 1 what it calls an ''Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle'' produced at its Karawang plant in West Java. The new vehicle, called the Kijang Innova (photo), is powered by either a 2.0-liter gasoline engine or a 2.5-liter diesel engine. The Kijang Innova is one of five multipurpose models developed by Toyota for production mainly in Indonesia, Thailand, Argentina and South Africa, the automaker said.

NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. will introduce the new Avensis (photo), a strategic car model developed for the European market, in Japan this fall, the company said on March 4. Launched in Britain on March 1, the new Avensis is set to be released in other European countries this spring. The latest Avensis will be available in four models including a 2.0-liter direct-injection gasoline engine version.

TOKYO, Japan - Takashi Sonebe (L), president of Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (MMC), and MMC Executive Vice President Rolf Eckrodt unveil the Airtrek, the company's new sports utility vehicle, on June 20 in Tokyo. The Airtrek, MMC's first new model in seven months, is available with a 2.4-liter or 2.0-liter engine and will go on sale in North America and Europe next year. It is priced between 1.70 million yen and 2.30 million yen.
