Nissan launches all-new X-Trail SUV in Japan

TOKYO, Japan - Toshiyuki Shiga, chief operating officer of Nissan Motor Co., stands by the company's new X-Trail sport utility vehicle during a presentation in Tokyo on Aug. 22. JAKARTA, Indonesia - Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled on Sept. 1 what it calls an ''Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle'' produced at its Karawang plant in West Java. The new vehicle, called the Kijang Innova (photo), is powered by either a 2.0-liter gasoline engine or a 2.5-liter diesel engine. The Kijang Innova is one of five multipurpose models developed by Toyota for production mainly in Indonesia, Thailand, Argentina and South Africa, the automaker said.

NAGOYA, Japan - Handout photo shows the Mark II Blit, a luxury station wagon featuring a range of sophisticated driving equipment and a roomy interior, launched Jan. 25 by Toyota Motor Corp. The new car, with a price tag of between 2.28 million and 3.39 million yen, features a 2.5-liter turbo engine, a self-leveling device as well as a spacious cabin and ample luggage space. The company hopes to sell 2,000 units per month.

Toyota begins selling new midsize luxury sedan

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. said June 4 it has begun selling the Brevis, which it calls an active-lifestyle luxury sedan. Available with either 3.0- or 2.5-liter direct fuel-injection VVT-I (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) engines, the Brevis clears fuel-consumption standards due to go into effect in 2010 and reduces hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide emissions to at least 25% below 2000 regulation levels.
