The discovery was made in the Disouq concession, where Wintershall Dea is a joint venture partnered with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS). The new field is located near the existing Disouq gas field, which has been in production since 2017. The NSG-3 well, which was drilled to a depth of 3,070 meters, encountered a 22-meter reservoir in the Abu Madi formation. Wintershall Dea says that the new discovery will help to accelerate production and increase economic returns at the Disouq gas field.
