Prototype Net-capable car unveiled

TOKYO, Japan - Keio University Prof. Jun Murai tries a prototype Internet-capable car on display at the Wireless Japan 2002 exhibition in Tokyo on July 17. The car, developed by Toyota Motor Corp., its auto parts-making unit Denso Corp. and NEC Corp., allows drivers to download maps for car navigation, restaurant guides, music and videos from the Internet, to which it can gain access by using NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s FOMA third-generation mobile phone and a 256-megabite server mounted on the car.
