HIROSHIMA, Japan - Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui (R) hands a city government official a book containing the names of 5,785 people who survived the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of the western Japan city whose deaths have been confirmed over the past year, to place it in the cenotaph in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park at 8:02 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2011, the 66th anniversary of the attack. The total number of atomic-bomb victims has reached 275,230.
