Nikkei hits 22-month high

TOKYO, Japan - A signboard at a Tokyo office of money broker Gaitame.com Co. shows the closing level of Japan's Nikkei stock index on the afternoon of Jan. 4, 2013. It ended the day's session at 10,688.11, up 292.93 points from the previous session on Dec. 28 and its highest close since March 4, 2011. The U.S. dollar trading in the upper 87 yen range is also shown.
