Ishii elated at Dodgers' reported $11.5 million bid

HONOLULU, the United States - Japanese pitcher Kazuhisa Ishii arrives at Honolulu International Airport on Jan. 8 for a private training camp. The 28-year-old southpaw expressed joy and satisfaction upon hearing that the Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly had bid $11.5 million for negotiating rights to have him on their team. Ishii, who went 12-6 with a 3.39 ERA in the 2001 season, told reporters he had heard nothing officially but that he was extremely happy the bid was so high.
