Some 30,000 people join Tokyo Marathon

TOKYO, Japan - Some 30,000 people from Japan and around the world alongside invited world-class competitive marathon runners begin the Tokyo Marathon, the Japanese capital's first large-scale event of its kind, at the Tokyo governmental building in rainy weather on Feb. 18. Modeled on other international races such as the New York Marathon, the Tokyo Marathon replaced its forerunner, the Tokyo International Marathon.
