Matsushita affiliate building large-scale LCD panel factory

HIMEJI, Japan - IPS Alpha Technology Ltd., a Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. affiliate, holds a traditional Shinto ground-breaking ceremony at the site of a liquid crystal display panel plant in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, on July 14. Matsushita is investing 300 billion yen to build the factory, which will be operational in January 2010 with an annual output of 15 million 32-inch LCD panels.

Sanyo Electric unveils new plasma display panel TVs

OSAKA, Japan - Sanyo Electric Co. on Aug. 7 unveiled its new large-size plasma display panel (PDP) TV sets. The suggested retail prices are 740,000 yen for the 32-inch model, 990,000 yen for the 42-inch version and 1.28 million yen for the 50-inch size. The products will be put on the market from Sept. 11. TOKYO, Japan - Hitachi will release the world's first 32-inch television set with a high-resolution plasma display panel (PDP) (Photo) in April, the company said in Tokyo on Feb. 7. The new model will carry a price tag of around 500,000 yen, about half the price of large-sized PDP TVs currently on the market.
