A low-cost face shield invented by Osaka University and Charman

A low-cost face shield invented by Osaka University and Charman

The shape of the frame is based on a widely used design, with clips on both ends. We designed several types of frames, including a small size for women and children, and a structure that can be attached to a stationery clip when the accuracy of the 3D printer cannot be secured. The shield part by the file can be cut with scissors if you are concerned about fogging or collision with the surrounding area. Transparent book covers can also be used and are disposable. There is a worldwide shortage of protective gear, and in New York City, the U.S., it was reported that treatment activities were carried out wearing garbage bags. Professor Nakajima said, ???It???s best if we can use genuine products, but we need to think about using familiar items as substitutes when there???s a shortage.? The Association for the Attraction of Fuchu University (Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture) has opened the "3D Lab" (photo), a manufacturing workshop on the theme of flying robots (drones), in "Roadside Station Bingo Fuchu" in Fuchu City. Using a subsidy from the city, the workshop is equipped with a 3D printer and desktop machine tools. By providing a place for students and other young people to make things, the city hopes to foster drone developers and increase the interest of citizens. The workshop is about 60 square meters in size, of which about 20 square meters are equipped with two 3D printers, tabletop machine tools, injection molding machines, and 3D scanners. It can be used by up to 20 people. In addition to making things with drones, they also offer workshops to learn how to fly them. Aichi Sangyo (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) and Shibaura Institute of Technology have started a joint research project to manufacture mass-produced products using metal 3D printers. Aichi Sangyo (Shinagawa, Tokyo) and Shibaura Institute of Technology have started a joint research project to manufacture mass-produced products using metal 3D printers. Overseas, mass production using metal 3D printers has already started, but in Japan, it is still in its infancy. In Japan, 3D printers are mostly used for prototyping and development, but not for mass production, because of the risk of internal problems during molding and the low accuracy of surface finish. Measurement and evaluation methods for processed materials have not been established in Japan. Therefore, through joint research, they will try to solve these problems.
