Nikkei rises 4.6%, ends at 6-month high near 9,400

TOKYO, Japan - An electric stock price board in Tokyo's Yaesu business district shows the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei Stock Average closing at 9,385.70 on May 7, up 408.33 points, or 4.55 percent, from May 1. The benchmark Nikkei index marked a new closing high since Nov. 5, when it finished at 9,521.24.
