Wakakusa Yamayaki in Nara

Grass is burned on the hillside of Mt. Wakakusa in the city of Nara during an annual festival on Jan. 24, 2015, as fireworks preceded it. The festival is held on the fourth Saturday in January and has been taking place for hundreds of years. At front is the five-story pagoda of Kofukuji, a Buddhist temple.
