The steamer set has 57 layers and is over 7 meters tall. Employees of the shop have to use an elevator to get the steamers. A pastry cook at the shop said there has been an increasing demand for steamed buns as the Spring Festival is around the corner, and that is why they are using more layers of steamers. TOKUSHIMA, Japan - Staff members of the Ningyo Bunka Koryukan doll museum display some of the 30,000 used ''hina'' dolls on a 7-meter-high pyramid Feb. 19 for a month-long festival starting Feb. 22 at the museum in the town of Katsuura, Tokushima Prefecture. They are among some 70,000 used dolls collected from homes nationwide. The ''hina'' dolls are usually displayed on a much smaller stand in Japanese homes to bring happiness to young girls around early March.

HIMEJI, Japan - Volunteers complete Aug. 6 a 7-meter-high model of the 17th century Himeji Castle using some 40,000 used polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles at an old freight terminal in the western Japan city Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. The model, conceived by the Himeji municipal government to get the public interested in recycling, was built over 17 days by 600 volunteers using PET bottles collected from elementary schools and supermarkets around the city.
