Suzuki Motor to sell large-scale scooter

TOKYO, Japan - Suzuki Motor Corp. will launch on June 1 a large-scale scooter which it claims has the world's biggest engine capacity for an ordinary scooter. The Sky Wave 650 has an engine capacity of 638 cc compared with 600 cc for conventional scooters. Priced at 859,000 yen, it features gear shifts that can be alternated between manual and automatic.

Okinawa Industry Association's Experience Event for Children

Can you beat a robot? The Okinawa Industrial Association (Naha City, Okinawa, 098-859-6191, Chairman Noboru Kohatsu, Chairman of Takunan Iron & Steel) promoted industrial robots through a hands-on event for children. In this game, children faced a cooperative twin-armed robot and arranged 10 pieces in a row. The game started with a nod from the robot's "head," and the children competed for speed with all their might. There have been few cases of robots being introduced in Okinawa, so the youth division of the association held this event at the "Okinawa Industry Festival" exhibition with the aim of promoting the spread of robots and understanding of manufacturing. TOKYO, Japan - Kimbusenji Temple in the Yoshino district in Nara Prefecture was founded by En no Gyoja in late 7th century and expanded in the Jogan era (859-877) by Shingon monk Shobo. A government advisory panel decided Nov. 17 to propose three Japanese cultural sites, including the temple and shrines, for the World Heritage List of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
