Protests greet U.S. cruiser on call at Osaka port

OSAKA, Japan - The U.S. cruiser Vincennes, based at Yokosuka Naval Base in Kanagawa Prefecture, enters Osaka port Oct. 6 where it was greeted by several hundred protesters. The U.S. Navy in Japan said the cruiser's visit is intended to allow the crew to recuperate and to participate in exchanges with locals. The 9,407-ton cruiser will stay there for five days.
