The Hurriyet Daily News said on its website that the bath had been unearthed in Kemer village, where the ancient city of Parion was located. "The bath is the only preserved architectural structure of the Ottoman-Turkish presence in this village, dating back 350 years, hidden among the modern structures," Hasan Kasapoglu, an academic and deputy head of the excavation team, was quoted as saying. After the excavation team found two tombstones during previous excavations, it concluded that there was a bathhouse on the site. Kyoto Tower to get total facelift, refurbishing

KYOTO, Japan - Kyoto Tower, the 130-meter-high modern icon in the ancient Japanese capital, will get a total facelift and refurbishing at a 350 million yen price tag. The tower, built in 1964, will get a milky white new paint on its external wall and the observation restaurant will turn into a lounge. The tower's observation deck will be in business while renovation work is under way, through the end of April.

Arches of light lit up Tokyo

TOKYO, Japan - Giant arches of light light up the Marunouchi business district in Tokyo on Christmas Eve in the ''Tokyo Milenario'' millennium festival. Twenty 12-meter-high arches, decorated with a total of 180,000 light bulbs, stretch over a 350-meter span of the Uchinaka Dori street. The arches will be lit up every night from dusk to 10:30 p.m. through Dec. 31. On Jan. 1, the lights will be on until 4 a.m.
