Oil slick from sunken ship reaches near Hyogo Pref. coast

HYOGO, Japan - Fishing industry people are collecting oil from the sunken Belizean-registered cargo ship AIGE off Hamasaka, Hyogo Prefecture, on April 4. The ship, sunk to a depth of 170 meters, is still leaking oil after a collision off Oki Islands, Shimane Prefecture, on March 31.

KYOTO, April 3 Kyodo - A Japan Coast Guard (JCG) patrol boat is in operation to recover oil slick off Shimane Prefecture in the Sea of Japan on April 3. JCG set up a task force to deal with fuel oil leaking from the Belizean-registered cargo ship AIGE which sank following collision with a Japanese fishing boat.

The oil slick about 9 kilometers long is from the 2,847-ton Belizean-registered cargo ship AIGE that sank after it collided with a fishing boat on March 31.

TOTTORI, Japan - The 2,847-ton Belize cargo ship AIGE, with a crew of 18, sinks in the Sea of Japan off Shimane Prefecture's Oki Island on March 31 after colliding with the 78-ton fishing boat No. 3 Koshi Maru, with eight crew members aboard.
