AI Flies XQ-58A Valkyrie Drone

Handout photo dated March 26, 2021 shows the XQ-58A Valkyrie demonstrates the separation of the ALTIUS-600 small unmanned aircraft system in a test at the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground test range, AZ, USA. The test was the first time the weapons bay doors have been opened in flight. An experimental XQ-58A "Valkyrie" drone has officially been flown under artificial intelligence control, the Air Force Research Laboratory (ARFL) announced. Conducted on July 25, 2023, at the Eglin Test and Training Complex in Florida, the test flight saw the drone entirely AI-controlled for around three hours.
