NTT DoCoMo, AOL announce tie-up deal

DoCoMo AOL begins service to find lost cell phones

TOKYO, Japan - DoCoMo AOL Inc. has launched a service to help mobile phone users find their handsets when they lost them. The new service requires users to register their e-mail addresses, passwords and other data in advance. When they lost their handsets, they access DoCoMo AOL's Web site via their personal computers and input their data. The handset then displays a message telling the finder to contact the owner at the phone number shown. (Kyodo)

Time Warner, AOL to merge

NEW YORK, United States - Steve Case (L), chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of America Online Inc., and Gerald Levin, chairman and CEO of Time Warner Inc., speak to reporters at a press conference on Jan. 10 in New York, where the two companies announced they have agreed to merge on an equal basis to become the world's first Internet-age media and communications company. The new company, to be called AOL Time Warner Inc., will have a stock value of 350 billion dollars, and combined revenues of more than 30 billion dollars a year.
