The three-day conference aimed to promote scientific exchanges in strengthening management of the Goma Volcanological Observatory (OVG), as well as to prevent the upcoming eruptions of volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains. Goma is home to two active volcanoes, Nyamulagira and Nyiragongo. The Nyiragongo volcano erupted in May 2021, killing at least 32
