The tower stands by the Yangtze River, the country's longest waterway, and has a twin tower which is located across the river in Taizhou City. The twin towers stand at a distance of 2.6 km, connecting power lines in Taizhou on the north bank of the Yangtze and Wuxi in the south. They are the crucial part of the 500-kV power transmission project spanning the river, which is one of the most technically difficult river-crossing network transmission projects in China.
