The 50-year-old victim was trapped in his vehicle which was swept by the raging waters in a seaside community near Heraklion port city in the northern coasts of the island, the Fire Brigade's spokesperson Giannis Artopios told a televised press briefing. SOUNDBITE 1 (Greek): GIANNIS ARTOPIOS, Fire Brigade's spokesperson "Fire Brigade's operation center received 453 calls for assistance within an hour." Some 30 people who had been stranded in flooded areas in the regional units of Heraklion and Lasithi were evacuated to safety, the Greek official added. The Fire Brig
