TOKYO, Japan - Aguri Suzuki, principal of the Super Aguri Formula One team, said in Tokyo on May 6 that the team has withdrawn from the world championship series due to financial problems. The team signed former BAR Honda driver Takuma Sato and made its F1 debut in 2006, backed by technical and financial support from Honda.

TOKYO, Japan - Former Formula One driver Aguri Suzuki, the first Japanese to score a podium finish in a world championship round, said Nov. 1 a new Honda-backed team has applied to join Formula One from next year. Led by Suzuki, the Super Aguri Formula One team is awaiting approval from the International Automobile Federation after it last week formally notified the sport's governing body of its plans to race in 2006.
