Japanese man recites pi to 83,000 digits, sets new world record

CHIBA, Japan - Akira Haraguchi, 59, recites pi, or the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, in Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, on July 1. He recited pi to 83,431 digits from July 1 to 2 in a new world record almost double the current Guinness Book record.
