UK: Snow Blankets Country as Major Winter Storm Unfolds

Meteorologists have warned of wintry conditions sweeping across the UK on Friday, January 2. The Met Office is pointing to cold Arctic air now covering much of the country. Currently amber warnings for snow issued in Scotland, while a yellow snow and ice warning in North Staffordshire will run until noon. Existing warnings for snow and ice, which remain in effect across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, will last from today until Sunday, January 4.

Spain: Hail and Heavy Rain Hit Malaga’s Axarquía Region on Christmas Eve

On December 24 (Christmas Eve), a storm bringing heavy rain and hail struck the Axarquía region of Málaga province in southern Spain. In several coastal and inland towns, the ground and even the beaches were covered in white, and a waterspout was also sighted offshore near Chilches. Authorities issued an amber warning for heavy rain and activated an emergency flood prevention plan. Traffic was disrupted on the A-7 motorway due to poor visibility and slippery road conditions, with some sections closed. Reports included localized flooding of homes and roads, as well as minor collisions, but no major damage has been confirmed so far.

UK: EasyJet Flight Attempts to Land During Storm Bram

Storm Bram swept across the UK, leaving thousands of travelers stranded on Wednesday morning, December 10. The storm's 90 mph winds have caused hundreds of flight delays and cancellations across major airports, including Manchester and Dublin. London Heathrow alone saw more than 600 inbound and outbound flights delayed and a further 32 cancelled on Tuesday, December 9. The Met Office has a series of yellow weather warnings for wind and rain that are continuing throughout Wednesday. This video was taken aboard a flight from Glasgow that attempted to land at Bristol Airport twice amid the storm.
