TOKYO, April 6 Kyodo - Lee Hyok Rae, chairman of a group formed by former Korean war criminals seeking justice and compensation from the Japanese government, attends the group's gathering marking its 60th anniversary on April 1, 2015, at the Japanese parliament in Tokyo. Lee is among the many former colonial subjects of Korean descent who were convicted as Class B and Class C war criminals after World War II for their involvement in the Japanese military, but were later stripped of their Japanese citizenship and rights to compensation as a result of the 1951 San Francisco Peace Treaty.
