Pacific Music Festival gets under way

SAPPORO, Japan - Pacific Music Festival for young musicians, founded by the late U.S. conductor Leonard Bernstein, begins in Sapporo on July 6. Pianist Martha Argerich is among the instructors for 114 students taking part in the course, the 13th in annual series. The festival will continue in Tokyo, Yokohama, Utsunomiya and three other Hokkaido cities through July 27.
