Territorial dispute over Senkaku Islands

HONG KONG, China - A fishing vessel carrying activists from Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan is pictured shortly before leaving Hong Kong port for the disputed Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea to assert Chinese sovereignty on Jan. 3, 2012, the same day two Japanese local assemblymen landed on one of the islands, angering China. The fishing vessel was stopped in Hong Kong waters, boarded by officials of Hong Kong's Marine Department and escorted back to port.
