Tokyo stock trading suspended due to system error

TOKYO, Japan - A man looks at a blank price board of a brokerage house in Tokyo's Chuo Ward on Nov. 1. Trading in stocks and convertible bonds on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was suspended because of a system malfunction. It is the bourse's first major system failure since Aug. 1, 1997.

Tokyo stock trading suspended due to system error

TOKYO, Japan - The price board at the Tokyo Stock Exchange Inc. carries no prices as trading remains suspended due to a system malfunction on Nov. 1. The company made an announcement shortly before trading was to begin at 9 a.m. It is the bourse's first major system failure since Aug. 1, 1997, it said.
