Benten Pond,Zojoji Temple,Shiba

Large lotus leaves cover the surface of a pond. There is an elevated area with a simple hut called an azumaya built on top. Stone lanterns and a five-tier stone tower are placed around the pond. However, since this kind of landscaping cannot be seen at the Benten Pond of Zojoji Temple, it is probably some other pond.==Date:unknown, Place:Tokyo, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number91‐21‐0]

Deer on the approach to Kasuga Shrine

This photo depicts a shack called azumaya and some deer. Two people on the far left appear to be foreigners. Although it is difficult to see the condition of the deer hair, judging from the man's attire and the trees, it was probably summer. Otabisho (a resting place for the god) of Wakamiya Shrine is situated three hundred meters east of Ichino-torii Gate and the location of the photo is across from it.==Date:1893, Place:Nara, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number72‐90‐0]
