Japanese GSDF members arrive in Bhuj to aid quake survivors

BHUJ, India - Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force members aboard a Japanese military cargo plane arrive Feb. 6 in Bhuj, one of the cities hit hardest by the Jan. 26 earthquake in the western state of Gujarat. They will help erect tents and deliver blankets to quake survivors.

NARITA, Japan - Members of a Japanese Self-Defense Forces team on Feb. 5 load relief goods at Narita airport, east of Tokyo, for survivors of last month's powerful earthquake in northwestern India. The 89-member team is expected to set up 450 tents and hand over about 4,500 blankets. The team, which departed Japan later in the day aboard six C-130 cargo planes and a private plane, will arrive in the worst-hit area of Bhuj as early as Tuesday via Delhi.
