The better-preserved egg has the shape of a prolate spheroid, with a total volume of approximately 660 ml. The embryo fills about 40 percent of the egg's area. A paper on the finding, co-authored by researchers in China and Canada, has been published in the journal BMC Ecology and Evolution.
