The country's east Punjab had been worst-hit in the ongoing rain spell with 21 fatalities in separate lightning incidents, the NDMA said in a statement. Seven people were killed in roof collapse and lightning incidents in the southwestern province of Balochistan, whereas eight, including children, died when the roofs of their houses collapsed in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, two people died after slipping into the river, while one man died after being buried under an avalanche in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region, the NDMA added.
