Storms with over 700 lightning strikes sparked a wildfire in Jarilla in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura on Tuesday, August 12. The fire burned out of control spreading toward the nearby municipalities of Villar de Plasencia and Cabezabellosa, due to difficult terrain and strong winds. Aerial firefighting has continued. Two water bombers have been sent by France to battle wildfires.
