The same day, a 29-year-old Brazilian woman of Japanese ancestry who turned herself in at the diplomatic mission was handed over to Chinese public safety authorities on suspicion of entering the country illegally. The woman is suspected of involvement in a case of an assistant nurse from Osaka whose body was found in a Tokyo rental storage unit earlier that month.
