Demonstration of Angry Showmen - Strasbourg

Angry fairgoers have rallied against the cancellation of Strasbourg's traditional Foire Saint Jean, which has been held for 600 years. For several years, there has been a problem concerning the allocation of a permanent venue for this annual event. With the entrance to the Town Hall, Cité administrative, blocked, the Municipal Council was delayed. There were major disruptions to public transport and roads were blocked. Following a warning from Jeanne Barseghian, Mayor of Strasbourg, to call in the police and CRS, the fairground workers stopped the demonstration and cleared the entrance to the Cité Administrative.
