During this visit, the Head of State meets with young people from various engagement programmes, as well as those participating in Defence and Citizenship Day, which was redesigned in 2025 to refocus its content on defence issues. This change was mentioned by the President during his New Year's speech to the armed forces in Rennes last January. After a military ceremony, the Head of State will deliver a speech, following on from the one he gave at the Hôtel de Brienne on 13 July, in which he reiterated the need to offer young people a new framework for serving in our armed forces and to respond to their desire to enlist.
