A fire broke out in Newlands Ravine on Sunday, February 23. The flames spread quickly to other parts of Table Mountain and moved to Cape Town’s central business district due to strong winds. The flame prompted road closures in the nearby area. There are no reports of injuries at the time of writing. This video shows the firefighting operation by a helicopter on the Newlands fire.

13 minibus taxis were set alight at a rank on Sunday night, January 9, in Nyanga, Cape Town. Four sprinter buses and a civilian vehicle were also destroyed.
