Endangered green turtle well after return to wild

OSAKA, Japan - Photo provided by the Minami-Chita Beach Land, an aquarium in Aichi Prefecture, shows a green turtle with a transmitter attached to its shell being released into the sea Oct. 17, 1999. The giant female turtle, born on Chichijima Island south of Tokyo in 1982 and raised at the aquarium, was returned to the wild in 1999 to study the ability of animals to adapt to nature after being raised by humans. Aquarium researchers recently announced the turtle had been able to successfully adapt to its new environment.
