14-year jail sentenced in Aomori embezzlement case

AOMORI, Japan - A car carrying Yuji Chida charged with embezzlement arrives at the Aomori District Court on Dec. 12. Chida was sentenced to a 14-year prison term for embezzling 1.45 billion yen from a public housing corporation in Aomori Prefecture. He confessed to giving about 1.1 billion yen of the embezzled money to his 29-year-old Chilean wife, Anita Alvarado, and her relatives.
