Intense storms swept through southern Ontario on Wednesday, July 1, downing trees and breaking at least one monthly rainfall record, with damaging winds, torrential rain and frequent lightning disrupting outdoor Canada Day gatherings across the region, including in the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa.

A tornado struck Enid, Oklahoma, on Thursday night, April 23, damaging homes and hitting Vance Air Force Base. Several injuries were confirmed on the city's south side, with no fatalities reported. The twister moved through residential areas, an airport, and several colleges before heading toward the nearby town of Fairmont. A separate tornado was also confirmed near Braman, Kay County, around 7:30 p.m.

US: Super Typhoon Sinlaku Barrels Toward Northern Mariana Islands and Guam

Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the strongest tropical cyclone on Earth so far in 2026, has been barreling toward the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam in the Pacific Ocean, with the National Weather Service warning of potentially "devastating damage." As of Monday, April 13, Sinlaku carried sustained winds of 175 mph — equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane — with typhoon warnings in effect for Saipan, Tinian and Rota, as typhoon conditions were expected by Tuesday. An island-wide power outage hit the Northern Mariana Islands, while flight cancellations were also reported amid the worsening weather.
