YANGON, Myanmar - Osamu Uno (L), Japan's vice minister of foreign affairs, and Yasuaki Nogawa, Japanese ambassador to Myanmar, attend an international aid conference in Yangon on Sunday. Survivors of killer cyclone take refuge in monastery in Myanmar

BOGALAY, Myanmar - A Buddhist monastery in Bogalay, a small delta town about 170 kilometers southwest of Yangon, is packed with survivors of Cyclone Nargis on May 8. People are taking refuge in the monastery after the cyclone devastated southern parts of Myanmar last weekend. Many farming and fishing villages in the Bogalay area were totally wiped out when 5-meter-high waves flooded the area, drowning more than half of its population, according to survivors. (Kyodo)
