NAHA, Japan - Two officers of a U.S. Air Force explosives disposal team check one of two defused rockets in Naha on Sept. 6. It is one of four U.S. antitank rockets found at locations connected to a Japanese Air Self-Defense Force sergeant who died in a blast in the city of Okinawa on Aug. 31.

NAHA, Japan - Two Japanese Self-Defense Forces men carry a box containing two defused rockets in Naha on Sept. 6. Japanese police and the U.S. Air Force finished defusing four U.S. antitank rockets found at locations connected to a Japanese Air Self-Defense Force sergeant who died in a blast in the city of Okinawa on Aug. 31.

NAHA, Japan - A Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) bomb-disposal squad on Feb. 24 defused a live World War II shell (shown in photo) in the Okinawa prefectural government building in Naha. The shell, along with two others like it, was discovered Feb. 15 in the sea off Naha and taken to an office on the 10th floor of the prefectural government building that evening.
