DRC: Torrential Rain Submerges Roads in Kinshasa

Kinshasa was hit by severe flooding on Tuesday, November 18. Torrential rain turned several neighborhoods into urban rivers. The French Institute’s Halle de la Gombe was flooded, forcing its closure on November 19 to assess damage. Thinking of You, an art installation by internationally acclaimed artist Alketa Xhafa Mripa, is dressing the city of Strasbourg in a sea of clothes donated by survivors of sexual violence around the world. Thinking of You has become a global symbol of remembrance and solidarity. The artist collaborated in The Hague with Dr Denis Mukwege, the gynaecologist nicknamed ‘The Man Who Repairs Women’, and is preparing an exhibition in New York. In front of the Council of Europe, she poses in front of her exhibition with Jeanne Barseghian, Mayor of Strasbourg, and Ambassador Lulzim Hiseni, Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in Strasbourg.
