Takeo Miki

Born on March 17, 1907 in Tokushima Prefecture. Miki was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1937 at age 30. He belonged to several conservative parties before joining the Liberal Democratic Party. Miki became Japan's 66th prime minister on Dec. 9, 1974 after the resignation of Kakuei Tanaka over a bribery scandal. He resigned in December 24, 1976 following LDP setbacks in the general election.
