US: Smoke Rises as 160-Acre Wildfire in New Jersey Prompts Evacuations

A 160-acre wildfire in West Deptford Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, was fully contained by 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11. The blaze prompted voluntary evacuations and threatened around 60 structures, but no injuries were reported and no buildings were damaged. The cause remains under investigation.

A powerful nor’easter intensified into a bomb cyclone, battering the northeastern United States and mid-Atlantic with blizzard conditions, wind gusts of 60–70 mph, and snowfall exceeding two feet in some areas. Blizzard warnings were issued for major cities including New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia as the storm triggered widespread power outages, travel shutdowns, thousands of flight cancellations, and states of emergency across multiple states.
