Handout photo dated on November 23, 2025 shows The Day Atmosphere Air Pollution Dust & Haze Volcanoes. On 23 November 2025, the Hayli Gubbi volcano in Ethiopia, located approximately 800 kilometres north-east of Addis Ababa, erupted for the first time in nearly 12,000 years. As a result of the eruption, a large sulfur dioxide (SO₂) plume was emitted into the atmosphere. This image, derived from data acquired by the Copernicus Sentinel-5P satellite on 24 November, shows the plume extending for approximately 3,700 kilometres from Ethiopia to the Arabian Sea. The atmospheric monitoring capabilities of Copernicus Sentinel-5P support the detection and tracking of volcanic gas emissions, which are important for aviation safety, air quality assessments, and climate monitoring. High-Quality Compost Production In Patumbak - Indonesia

Organic fertiliser derived from processed livestock waste has become an essential resource for local farmers in response to the inconsistent availability of subsidised inorganic fertilisers. On October 30, 2025, Purnomo, a staff member at PT Nousindo Nusatara Agri’s compost processing plant, showcased the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute (PPKS) Laboratory Analysis Certification in Patumbak, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. This certification confirms that the local compost fertiliser meets quality standards necessary for soil nutrient requirements and supports small-scale fertiliser industries in participating in the national food program. PT Nousindo's conversion of cow dung into high-quality compost offers a vital independent solution for agricultural sustainability. Photo by Aditya Sutanta/ABACAPRESS.COM

The ban also extends to the use of words referring to traditional meat products, such as "salami" and "steak," for marketing plant-based meat substitutes. The Italian parliament passed the new law after months of debate. Breaking the rules can carry fines of up to 60,000 euros (65,800 U.S. dollars). Italy's ban comes as other countries -- including Germany and Spain -- are investing heavily in research for improving the production process for cultivated meat. Supporters argue that processing cultivated meat is more sustainable as it has a smaller environ

The Weizmann Institute team say their "embryo model", made using stem cells, looks like a textbook example of a real 14-day-old embryo. It even released hormones that turned a pregnancy test positive in the lab. The ambition for embryo models is to provide an ethical way of understanding the earliest moments of our lives. The researchers, led by Palestinian scientist Jacob Hanna at the Weizmann Institute in Israel, harnessed the power of embryonic stem cells, which can become any kind of cell. They produced embryo models up to 14 days old, which is the legal limit for human embryo lab research in many countries, and the point at which organs like the brain begin to develop.
