Time-lapse footage shows snow accumulating over a 24-hour period on Sunday, January 25, at the South Oval on the Ohio State University campus. A major winter storm swept across the U.S., bringing widespread heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain. The storm has caused seven deaths and massive power outages affecting hundreds of thousands of people.

KYOTO, Japan - Doshisha University climbers' club will undertake an expedition to scale Mount Ronglai Kangri (in file photo) and become the first to scale the 6,859-meter Himalayan mountain, the Kyoto-based school said Aug. 2. Doshisha Univ. memorial hall to undergo 1st repair in 100 yrs

KYOTO, Japan - The Clarke Memorial Hall at Doshisha University, one of Japan's oldest private educational institutions in Kyoto, is to undergo the first-ever full renovation. University officials said April 14 that ahead of the six to seven years of full repair from 2004, a temporary repair work will begin on April 16 and end by September. Designated a cultural asset of Japan, the two-story hall built in Gothic style was completed in 1893 under the work of a German architect.
