Sony Marketing to introduce card-sized digital camera

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Marketing (Japan) Inc. will sell a card-sized digital still camera (photo) from April 15. The Cyber-shot DSC-T7, whose thinnest part is 9.8 millimeters, is a 5.1 million pixel camera with a 3X optical zoom lens. The camera will sell for around 55,000 yen. (Kyodo)

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. said on May 14 it will put on the market on June 1 what it claims to be the world's first compact digital camera (in handout photo) with a resolution of 12.1 megapixels. The new camera, called Cyber-shot DSC-W200, measures 58.5 millimeters high, 91 mm wide and 27.3 mm deep. The price is open but the product is expected to retail for about 50,000 yen. (Kyodo)

Matsushita to sell digital cameras under Leica tie-up

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows the LUMIX DMC-LC5, one of the two high-speed digital still cameras (DSC) which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will begin marketing Oct. 27 as the first products under an alliance with Leica Camera AG of Germany. The LUMIX DMC-LC5 is equipped with Leica's DC Vario-Summicron lens and can shoot up to eight frames per second. Matsushita said Sept. 17 it has not suggested a retail price for the new product.
